Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.36%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.36%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11), which rose 9.92% or 1.44 points to trade at 15.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) added 4.25% or 1.32 points to end at 32.36 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 4.15% or 0.59 points to 14.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which fell 3.00% or 0.30 points to trade at 9.70 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) declined 2.78% or 1.62 points to end at 56.75 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 2.39% or 0.25 points to 10.20.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 273 to 205 and 34 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.26% to 42.05.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.00% or 12.20 to $1233.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 4.15% or 2.87 to hit $66.30 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 2.92% or 3.43 to trade at $121.08 .

USD/BRL was up 0.34% to 3.6991, while EUR/BRL rose 0.39% to 4.2437.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 95.68.
